//TRIO KALIYA
.
Elif Dimli - Violoncello // Kai Schumacher - Piano // Yana Dukanova - Violin
.
Since the foundation of the Trio in 2007 – at that time still known as Trio Kayana –
have the three young musicians always been considerate of presenting their
audience with an exiting and extraordinary mixture of classical pieces of the Trio
Literature as well as unknown works of the present and the past. The concerts of the
three young musicians are neither holy classical temple nor crossover-supermarket.
In fact, they are moving beyond all stylistic categories – and they do it well.
.
The collaboration with musicians like Troels Svane, Wolf Harden (Trio Fontenay) and
Dirk Mommertz (Fauré-Quartet) are for the Trio equally inspiring as projects with
the German producer and turntable artist DJ Illvibe (Seeed, Peter Fox). Works of
the Swiss jazz composer Daniel Schnyder are neatly mixed in the Trio’s concert
repertoire with the great piano trios of Schubert: regardless playing on the stage of
Essen Philharmonics or in a vibrant alternative culture scene. During their studies in
the chamber music class of Prof. Andreas Reiner (Rosamunde-Quartett) at the
Folkwang University in Essen, Germany, the Trio received the advancement award of
the Köhler-Osbahr-Stiftung. Additionally, they were granted a scholarship at the Villa
Musica in September 2009. When in 2010 Elif Dimili joined the Trio as new cellist
the Trios name was changed to TRIO KALIYA. One of the upcoming projects of the
trio is the performance of the Triple concertos by Ludwig van Beethoven and Daniel
Schnyder (first performance in Germany) in March 2012.
.
“Those who thought to know Beethoven profoundly, were shown that they didn’t. Trio
Kaliya’s uncompromising and furious interpretation of Beethoven transformed the
master’s music into a breathtaking discovery.”
(Die Rheinpfalz, July 2010)
